The Kerala government on Thursday said it has plans to revamp the education system in the state to boost quality of students passing out of the colleges.
Addressing reporters here, Kerala Education Minister C. Raveendranath said a master plan for revamping the education sector in the state would be prepared.
"We will prepare a master plan in a year's time. This will give us the direction for revamping the entire education sector,” Raveendranath said. “The plan includes revision of curriculum, development of infrastructure and setting up teaching protocols,” he added.
The aim is to stop the decline in the standard of education in the state, he said.
Education in Kerala followed secular principles, the minister said, adding: “But with the onset of liberalisation, commercial interests have impacted education in the state. Quality of education suffered. Our aim will be to bring back the golden age of education sector.”
The minister also voiced concern over the alleged substance abuse at educational institutions and said necessary steps will be taken to tackle the situation. - IANS
