Spotted a Dirty Spot? WhatsApp GCC and Help Clean Chennai!
07-June-2025

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has started a special campaign to stop public urination and open defecation in the city. As part of this effort, people are being asked to report places where these activities happen by sending the location through WhatsApp or an online link.
This project is part of the International Toilet Festival 3.0, which will go on for a month. It is being held in partnership with organisations like Washlab, Cheer, and Recycle Bin.
The main idea is to use people’s help to find out where the problems are happening through the crowdsourcing method.
The GCC has done the right thing to encourage residents to take action by reporting the eyesore spots and help the authorities to eliminate the problem, instead of just complaining about dirty public places.
Once the campaign ends and the GCC has collated the data collected from the public, it will take steps like building more public toilets or improving the cleanliness of the area.
Anyone in Chennai can take part by simply sending the location of a "pee point" to the WhatsApp number 94455 51913 before July 5, 2025. - TWL Bureau
