A 36-year-old man has been arrested on the charge of fatally shooting his father who had come visiting him from the United States, police said on Monday.
The arrest was made after accused Sherin Joy admitted to the crime during police questioning.
Police said it had recovered on Monday and Sunday parts of victim Joy V. John's body.
John, 68, settled with his wife and two other children in the US, had arrived from the US last month and was staying with his son Sherin near here.
On Wednesday, the two had left for state capital Thiruvananthapuram for some repair work.
The following morning, Sherin allegedly called up his mother to tell that he had a fight with his father and had committed a mistake. He then hung up.
After police picked up Sherin on Saturday for questioning, he allegedly told police that he shot dead his father, took the body to their warehouse and set the body afire after cutting the body into six pieces.
Sherin returned from the United States a few years back and his marriage had ended in a divorce.
Police said Sherin had a tiff with his father over accounting for the money collected as rent from family properties near here. - IANS
