Arrested AAP legislator gets bail

A court on Friday granted bail to AAP legislator Akhilesh Tripathi, who was remanded in judicial custody a day earlier over a 2013 rioting case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Kapil Kumar granted the bail to Tripathi, who represents Model Town constituency in the Delhi assembly, on a personal bond of Rs.10,000.
The Aam Aadmi Party legislator had been sent to two days' judicial custody in a case of rioting.
According to court sources, a non-bailable warrant was issued against the legislator on Monday for not appearing before the court on the date of hearing.
The court warned him not to repeat such conduct and attend judicial proceedings without fail.
Tripathi moved the bail application on Thursday evening.
The court noted earlier that he misused the liberty of bail and directed that he be taken into custody.
Tripathi is being tried with Rahul Kumar, Vikas Mandal, Inder Vikram Singh and Kanhaiya Kumar Jha for offences dealing with rioting armed with deadly weapons, unlawful assembly and criminal intimidation. - IANS
