Modi praises Ambedkar for drafting constitution without bias
27-November-2015
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that despite insults he faced in his lifetime, Dalit leader Bhimrao Ambedkar drafted the Indian constitution without any bias.
"It was the height of Ambedkar's personality that he bore all humiliation but there was no sense of revenge in him; no sense of revenge is reflected in the constitution," Modi said in the Lok Sabha.
He was participating in a discussion on Commitment to the Constitution as part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Ambedkar, the chief architect of the document.
"To make the constitution of a nation like India, it is not easy," Modi said while appreciating the efforts of the makers of the constitution.
"To strengthen our democracy, it is important for the people to know about all aspects of our constitution," he added. - IANS
