Former Kolkata top cop summoned in Rose Valley case
08-August-2019
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday summoned former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in connection with the probe into the Rose Valley chit fund scam case, a CBI official said.
Kumar, whom the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government appointed as the additional director general of CID, before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has already faced multiple interrogations in the Saradha chit fund case.
This is the first time a senior officer has been summoned by the central agency in the Rose Valley case.
Citing his alleged involvement in the multi-crore scam, in which lakhs of customers from Bengal and other states were duped on false promises of higher returns on their investment, CBI has asked Kumar to appear for questioning.
The Election Commission removed Kumar from the post and attached him to the Home Ministry in New Delhi during the 2019 elections.IANS
