A person hacked two of his family members to death in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district on Friday, the police said.
According to the police, 42-year-old Ratan Tudu slit the throats of his sister-in-law and nephew in Chingaragao village on Friday.
He then surrendered at the local Dumaria police station and confessed to the crime.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The victims have been identified as Kapra Tudu (42) and her son Hemo Tudu (20). After surrendering before the police, Ratan Tudu said that family dispute was the reason for the killings.
"Ratan's elder brother Kabe Tudu was in Jharkhand police. He was killed in a shoot out. Kabe had two wives, Kapra and Reena. Ratan got married to Reena and they have four daughters. Ratan wanted that the government job should be given to Hemo Tudu but the compensation amount and land should go to him. Kapra and her son never agreed on the said terms. There were regular disputes over the issue in the family. On Friday the dispute turned violent and Ratan killed both of them," said Yogendra Paswan, a police officer. IANS
