Odisha receives 17.7% deficit rainfall in June-July

Odisha has received 17.7 per cent deficit rainfall in the months of June and July, said an official of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Thursday.
The state received 457.7 mm rainfall against the average of 556.4 mm in the two months.
In July, Odisha received nine per cent less rainfall with Malkangiri and Bhadrak districts recording the highest and lowest rainfall of 633.8 mm and 178.9 mm respectively.
The 17 districts that received deficit rainfall are Jharsuguda, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Balangir, Boudh, Sambalpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Angul, Mayurbhanj and Deogarh.
On an average, the state experiences 15.4 rainy days in the month of July. There were, however, 13.7 rainy days during July this year.
In June 2019, there were 7.4 rainy days against the normal average of 9.9 days. IANS
