Tata Global Beverages Wednesday launched a marketing arrangement with the South Indian Green Cardamom Company (SIGCC), enabling farmers to sell cardamom and pepper under the brand name 'Spice Mist'.

The SIGCC is the only such company, founded, managed and run by the growers of spices in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The company was set up in 2006.

Earlier, the marketing of spices was undertaken by the company. Now on, these products would be sold through the network of Tata Global Beverages.

"Through this new arrangement, Indian consumers can look forward to the best of Indian spices. Moreover, the promotion of our products will be on a larger scale with the help of Tata Global Beverage," said Sam Mathew, director of SIGCC.

Spice Mist will now be available packaged in nitrogen-flushed packs which will help retain the freshness and aroma, necessary characteristics for spices.

Harish Bhat, CEO of Tata Global Beverages, said Tata has a rich heritage of giving back to the community.

"Through our expertise, we look forward to helping growers unlock the potential of their products and widen their market reach," Bhat said. - IANS
