Kerala Tourism to organise promotion event in Abu Dhabi

To attract cash-rich Arab travelers, the Kerala Tourism Department along with retail chain Lulu Group, is organising a four-day 'Explore Kerala @ Abu Dhabi' event from February 22.
"Considering tourist arrivals to Kerala from the Middle East, UAE is the second biggest market after Saudi Arabia. Kerala Tourism has identified the potential of the ever growing UAE tourism market," said State Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran.
According to Kerala Tourism figures, in 2015 more than one lakh tourists from the Middle East visited Kerala and it included 71,500 from Saudi Arabia 20,000 from the UAE and 17,924 from Oman.
The event, being conducted at Mushrif Mall in Abu Dhabi, will also feature colourful cultural performance including Kathakali, Mohiniyattom, Theyyam and Thayambaka.
Head of Lulu group, Keralite businessman M.A. Yusuf Ali said they will engage in promotion of Kerala Tourism at all their Lulu Hypermarkets and shopping malls in the Middle East.
Leading tourism players from Kerala will show case their products in the event which will be inaugurated by Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Tourism Sultan Hamad Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, Indian Ambassador to UAE Navdeep Suri, among others. - IANS
