The condition of Jawaharlal Nehru University students leader Saurabh Sharma, admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital following hunger strike, is stable, said hospital authorities.
"The condition of Saurabh Sharma is stable now. His sugar level had gone down but now it is normal. The concerned doctor is monitoring him and there is nothing to worry," a senior doctor of the hospital said.
Sharma, who is joint secretary of the JNUSU, was taken to the Safdarjung Hospital on Monday afternoon after his health deteriorated during a hunger strike.
He and some Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members are on an indefinite hunger strike against a fine of Rs.10,000 imposed on Sharma by a high-level committee, on charges of obstructing traffic on the campus during the February 9 event.
Apart from the ABVP members, several other JNUSU leaders, including Kanhaiya Kumar, are also on a hunger strike over the punishment given to them over the February 9 issue. - IANS
