More autorickshaws with GPS for national capital
10-November-2012
More autorickshaws with Global Positioning System (GPS) installed on them would be seen on the roads of the national capital, Delhi Transport Minister Rama Kant Goswami said Friday.
"Over 4,300 new autorickshaws with GPS have been added to the fleet of autorickshaws in Delhi. It may be recalled that 12,000 bookings were made for autorickshaws, out of which more than 4,300 autorickshaws have been delivered," Goswami said.
The minister held a discussion here with the vice-president of Bajaj Auto, C.K. Rao, on issues related to the availability of new autorickshaws.
The meeting was held with the aim of ensuring that the new autorickshaws are made available to purchasers, as instructed by the Supreme Court.
It was decided that the company would double its quota of autorickshaws for Delhi with immediate effect.
The enhanced quota would facilitate early delivery of autorickshaws. Around 7,700 applicants are on the waiting list, the minister said. - IANS
