Himachal HC bails out ex-DGP's son in forgery case
29-October-2015
The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to Amil Manhas, a son of former director general of police D.S. Manhas, in a forgery case.
Granting bail, Justice Rajiv Sharma directed Amil to join the investigation, as and when required.
However, the court said that if the petitioner (Amil) misused his liberty or violated any of the conditions imposed on him, the investigating agency shall be free to move the court for cancellation of the bail.
The accused is chairman of Albeit Educational and Welfare Trust, which runs a nursing college in Una town of Himachal.
He was accused of submitting forged documents to secure affiliation of the college with the Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla.
Acting on a university complaint, police registered a case against the nursing college.
Last year, a case was registered against former police chief Manhas by the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau on charge of misuse of official position as commissioner of Shimla Municipal Corporation. - IANS
