BJP barely ahead of majority mark in Hry, looks set to retain power in Maha

The ruling BJP was ahead in barely a few seats more than the majority mark of 46 in the 90-member Haryana Assembly on Thursday, but appeared set to retain power in Maharashtra along with ally Shiv Sena.
According to the IANS-CVoter, the latest trends in counting of votes showed that in Haryana, the saffron party was leading in 49 seats while the Congress was ahead in 27 constituencies, the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) in 8 and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in 2.
The BJP had won 47 seats in the last Assembly elections in 2014.
In Maharashtra where 288 seats are at stake, the BJP was ahead in 107 constituencies while its ally Shiv Sena was leading in 71 constituencies.
From the Opposition camp, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was leading in 51 seats while its coalition partner Congress was ahead in 37 constituencies. Others were leading in 8 seats and Independents were ahead in 5 constituencies.IANS
