Attacking Pakistan for spread of terrorist activities in India, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said he believed that abrogation of Article 370 would play a significant role in complete elimination of terrorism from India as well as in the establishment of permanent safety and peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the 35th Raising Day of National Security Guard (NSG) at Unni Krishnan stadium in Manesar, the Home Minister said he is now confident that the "country is going to involve in a decisive fight against terrorist activities being run by our neighbouring country for long".

"We are safe inside the impregnable armour created after the abrogation of Article 370, the initiatives taken by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir, and the ability of our security personnel," said Shah.

Now, our country can move on the path of peace and development, the Home Minister said, adding the move would also lead towards "zero tolerance" towards terrorism.

Shah expressed confidence that there would be "permanent peace" in Jammu and Kashmir with the abrogation of Article 370 that gave special status to that state.

"The abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir is a step towards elimination of terrorism, which was a curse for any civilized country," Shah said.

The Minister said that terrorism is a hurdle for the development of any modern society and that "India has been fighting the longest battle in the world against cross border terrorism".

He also declared that Centre's "zero tolerance" policy is "unwavering". Shah said that the Modi government's policy of "zero tolerance against terrorism" is unchangeable and a force like NSG is fully capable and equipped to safeguard the nation from terrorism, thus upholding this policy of the government.

"Now, I want to tell to the whole world that our country's internal security is in the safe hands of the NSG," the Minister said boosting the confidence of the security forces.

Shah expressed confidence that NSG would always remain committed towards the Modi government's vision of a "world class zero-error force" and would play a decisive role in eliminating terrorism in India. He, in fact, started his address by paying tribute to the NSG martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for the Nation.

He expressed said that NSG's capabilities in protecting the nation from all acts of terrorism are unparalleled and it has always upheld its motto of "Sarvatra, Sarvottam, Suraksha".

In today's time, when unconventional warfare is the rule, Amit Shah said that the NSG is always prepared and ready to protect the Nation, whether it was the terror attacks like Akshardham, 26/11, Pathankot airbase or tackling terror threats or even carrying out the bomb diffusion operations. He said that the NSG has impressed the world with its capability to counter any kind of terror attack.

"This inspires confidence in the minds of the people of the country that they are in safe hands."

In view of "terror threat perception", Shah informed that the Centre in 2016 established the 5th regional hub of NSG in Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

"The brave and selfless commandos of NSG have been equipped with the latest anti-terror capabilities and weapons." Giving importance to the human capabilities over weapons, the Home Minister said that though capabilities like mobility, surveillance, counter-drone firepower of NSG have been upgraded, "yet any weapon cannot match a commando's bravery and patriotism".

Talking about the variety of activities undertaken by NSG, Shah said that the NSG on one hand has trained with special forces of different countries and exchanged the best practices, on the other hand, the its officers have participated in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and other environmental conservation efforts also, which is another form of service to the nation.

The Home Minister also congratulated the NSG on its contingent unfurling the national flag on the Everest.IANS
