Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath underwent a finger surgery at the government-run Hamidia Hospital, here on Saturday.

According to a statement by the Chief Minister's Office, Kamal Nath was suffering from stiff finger condition in his right hand for some time and that's why he could not participate in Yoga Day celebrations.

"Kamal Nath was admitted to Hamidia Hospital around 9 a.m. A team of doctors performed the surgery for 'trigger finger' condition in his ring finger," Aruna Kumar, Dean of Gandhi Medical College (Hamidia Hospital) said. He was likely to be discharged by evening, she said.

Trigger finger is a condition that causes pain, stiffness, and a sensation of locking or catching when one bends or straightens the finger. The ring finger and thumb are most often affected by trigger finger, but it can occur in the other fingers, as well.

Wishing Kamal Nath speedy recovery, former MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted: "Kamal Nathji, my best wishes to you for a healthy life. Your decision to avail treatment at Hamidia is commendable. I hope the common man also get the facilities you got there and should not have to run around for this." IANS
