Four fake CBI officers arrested in Ghaziabad

Four men, who passed themselves as CBI officers and cheated various people, were arrested from here on Friday when they were planning a "raid", police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the four from a hotel in Kaushambhi area when they were hiring a vehicle for the raid in Loni area, Ghaziabad SSP Vaibhav Krishna told a press conference.
He said police was receiving complaints that a gang was cheating people in the name of making recruitments in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and police made a plan and zeroed in on them.
The arrested persons, identified as Vishal Dubey, Vivek Dubey, Rahul, all residents of Bihar's Rohtas district and Sandeep, also from Bihar, confessed to the crime during interrogation, the SSP said.
He said police had nabbed them on the tip of vehicle providers Hardeep and Akash, who have turned police witness in the case.
Police recovered a laptop, two rubber stamps of CBI, a joining letter, some papers pertaining to recruitment in CBI and fake identity cards of CBI officers from the four, said Krishna, adding a criminal case under various sections relating to cheating and forgery has been registered against them in police station Indirapuram. - IANS
