Bill to hike salary of judges introduced in Lok Sabha

A bill to increase the salaries of Chief Justices and Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Once passed, the High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Amendment Bill, 2017 will lead to increase in the salary of the Chief Justice of India from Rs 100,000 per month to Rs 280,000 per month.
The Supreme Court Judges will get salaries of Rs 250,000 per month as against Rs 90,000 now.
The High Court Chief Justices will get Rs 250,000 instead of Rs 90,000 per month while High Court Judges will get Rs 225,000 compared with Rs 80,000 per month.
The revisions will be effective from January 1, 2016. - IANS
