Odisha's white tiger safari to stay shut
Bhubaneswar
17-May-2013
Odisha’s only white tiger safari will remain shut for visitors for more time as authorities are yet to decide the fate of a Royal Bengal tiger which walked into it from the wild last month.
The safari at Nandankanan Zoological Park on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar was closed after the seven-year-old tiger walked into it April 29.
Zoo officials were in a dilemma after a wildlife expert demanded its release into the wild while local residents demanded that it should remain in the zoo.
A committee comprising officials and people’s representatives Wednesday decided that the tiger will stay in the park till its original habitat is identified, a park official told IANS. - IANS
