Hit and run: Minor offender gets bail

The Juvenile Justice Board on Tuesday granted bail to a minor accused in a hit-and-run case in which a 33-year-old business consultant was killed.
The minor sought bail on the grounds that he has passed the Class 12 examination and now has to appear in college entrance exams.
His father was granted bail by a court on April 10, two days after he was arrested.
Police apprehended the minor offender on April 5, a day after he fatally knocked down with his car Sidhharth Sharma who was crossing a road to buy eatables.
The minor was then freed on bail as he was only booked under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
The boy's father was arrested under section 304 (abetting culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC for letting his minor son drive even after knowing that he had caused an accident earlier.
Police earlier told the court that CCTV footage showed that the minor offender was driving his car at a high speed in a residential area. - IANS
