Two Nigerians and an Indian woman have been arrested on the charge of duping a Gurugram-based woman of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of getting her married to a foreigner, police said on Wednesday.
Hilary Namdi Okoli, 45, presently living in Sriniwaspuri in Delhi, and Samuel Ivachukwa alias Josua, were held following the arrest of Reena Vasumotari of Assam.
The complainant said on March 10 that she came in contact with one Jeff Denis on a matrimonial website but was duped of Rs 10 lakh after Denis took money from her on different occasions on the pretext of obtaining the necessary legal documents.
Police said Vasumotari was arrested in Delhi on the basis of technical evidence. She used to take Rs 10,000 to open bank accounts for the accused Nigerians who in turn used these accounts to dupe people.
The three accused, working for Denis, have been sent to five-day police remand, a senior police officer said.
Credit and debit cards, PAN cards, Aadhaar cards and other documents were seized from them. - IANS
