Viral Podcaster Raj Shamani’s Inspiring Journey From Selling Soaps to Viral Interview With Mallya

Entrepreneur and host of the popular podcast Figuring Out, Raj Shamani, who shot to fame with his viral interview featuring elusive businessman Vijay Mallya, comes from a humble, middle-class family in Indore.
Raj joined his father’s small business, Shamani Industries, at the age of 16 when his father fell ill. The company was making dishwashing liquids and surface cleaners.
With no prior experience, Raj got into the business and sold the products in nearby towns riding on a scooter. He was able to grow the company through his hard work. The company achieved a turnover of Rs 200 crore in a short period of time.
Later, Raj began sharing his experiences and business advice on social media. His simple and relatable videos quickly gained popularity among young people. He built a strong following on Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
He also launched the podcast Figuring Out with Raj Shamani, where he interviews well-known entrepreneurs, creators, and investors. One of the most notable episodes featured Vijay Mallya, who spoke publicly for the first time in nine years. The episode, titled “Rise & Downfall of Kingfisher Airlines, Loans & RCB”, went viral shortly after its release.
The four-hour interview became one of the most-watched podcasts in India, crossing 10 million views within just 24 hours on YouTube and other platforms. It set a new record as the fastest-growing podcast episode in the country.
In the interview, Mallya spoke about his business journey, the collapse of Kingfisher Airlines, and the public criticism he has faced. He claimed to have paid more than the amount owed and questioned why he was still being labelled a fraud. – TWL Bureau
