Police have arrested four cyber cheats who hacked India Today's shopping site and cheated its customers to the tune of Rs 4 crore, police said on Friday.
Superintendent of Police S.K. Singh said the India Today group lodged a complaint on July 1 alleging its shopping site, Bag it Today, had been hacked.
The company alleged it was getting complaints from customers that they had been insured for shopping online but had not received the promised benefits.
After IT experts tracked the cheating to a fake call centre in a house in Vijay Nagar, a police raid led to the discovery of seven cordless phones, a printer, a laptop and seven activated SIMs.
The four men who were arrested confessed to cheating Bag it Today customers.
"The cheats had amassed about Rs 4 crore by cheating India Today customers," said officer Singh. He identified the four as Ajay and Avsesh (twins), Dhirendra and Manoj. - IANS
