Railway launches cleanliness campaign at Salem Junction

Salem Division of Southern Railway organized a cleanliness campaign at the Salem Junction Tuesday for creating awareness among train passengers on keeping the station premises clean.

Sujatha Jayaraj, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, launched the campaign in the presence of M Ashokan, Commissioner, Salem Municipal Corporation.
Students from Saradha Ramakrishna Higher Secondary School, participated in the campaign. They distributed pamphlets to passengers and sought their help in keeping the railway premises clean.
Passengers were informed about the penalty of up to Rs.500/- for littering in the station
V Thavamani Pandi, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, R P Nirala, Sr.Divl. Engineer (Co-ordination), D Lakshmanan, Sr.Divl. Commercial Manager, Dr. K Mohan, Medical Superintendent, A K Rajamaneeckem, Asst. Health Officer, and other Divisional Officials also participated in the campaign.
Such campaigns are being planned in other railway stations in Salem Division, such as Tiruppur, Erode and Coimbatore. – TWL Bureau
