Global Covid-19 caseload tops 230.5 mn

The global coronavirus caseload has topped 230.5 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4.72 million and vaccinations soared to over 6.02 billion, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
In its latest update on Friday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload, death toll and vaccination tally stood at 230,542,888, 4,727,498 and 6,020,462,382, respectively.
The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 42,667,412 and 684,286, respectively, according to the CSSE.
In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 33,563,421 cases.
The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (21,308,178), the UK (7,601,598), Russia (7,248,572), France (7,068,107), Turkey (6,960,267), Iran (5,493,591), Argentina (5,246,998), Colombia (4,946,811), Spain (4,943,855), Italy (4,649,906), Indonesia (4,201,559), Germany (4,183,672) and Mexico (3,597,168), the CSSE figures showed.
Nations with a death toll of over 100,000 are Brazil (592,964), India (446,050), Mexico (273,391), Peru (199,108), Russia (197,834), Indonesia (141,114), the UK (136,143), Italy (130,551), Colombia (126,032), Iran (118,508), France (117,055) and Argentina (114,772) - IANS
