04-February-2016
The Delhi Police on Thursday arrested the principal and four other staff of a local private school where a six-year-old boy died after falling into an open septic tank.
Those arrested on charges of causing death due to negligence are school principal Sandhya Sabu, 50; class teacher Minakshi Kapoor, 38; reverse osmosis plant operator Yogesh Kholiya, 23; maintenance incharge Puran Singh Bisht, 65; and gardener Ram Narayan, 44, a police officer said.
Class I student Dewansh Kakrora died after falling into a septic tank at the Ryan International Public School in Vasant Kunj area of south Delhi around 12.30 p.m. on January 30.
Police said the case was registered on the day of the incident. The boy remained trapped inside the tank till sewage workers fished him out, police alleged.
A police officer said the five people were arrested after thorough questioning of several employees and school management.
Kakrora's initial post-mortem report prepared by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences confirmed death due to drowning.
"There were no external injury marks on Kakrora's body that could have resulted in his death. The post-mortem report pointed to asphyxiation due to aspiration of fluid into the air passage as the probable cause of death. We arrested the five accused on charge of negligence," the officer added. - IANS
