Ghaziabad villagers slam police 'inaction' against criminals

Angry residents of a Ghaziabad village on Saturday slammed what they termed police "inaction" against criminals who shot at a village headman.
Earlier this week, Omvir, the pradhan (headman) of Tila-Shahbazpur village, was shot at by two motorcycle-riding youths. A police complaint was filed, but the criminals have not been nabbed yet.
Now, the villagers are being threatened with dire consequences if the complaint is not withdrawn.
Unidentified people telephoned villagers on Friday, saying they would kill headman Omvir's nephew, who had filed the police complaint.
Virendra Yadav of the Loni Border police station assured the villagers that police would nab the criminals at the earliest. - IANS
