Person of the Year' in Chennai to attend award function

Anil Joshi, an unsung hero chosen by this website as Person of the Year (2012), arrived in Chennai this evening from Bhopal to attend the award function to be held at VIT University, Chennai campus, on Friday.
Joshi, an ayurvedic doctor from Madhya Pradesh, has built about 10 check dams in drought stricken villages of Madhya Pradesh by collecting one rupee each from villagers. The dams Joshi built with the help of villagers have become lifeline for thousands of farmers in the region.

In December, Joshi was chosen as ‘The Weekend Leader – VIT Chennai Person of the Year’ (2012).
VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan and The Weekend Leader’s Consulting Editor Sam Rajappa will jointly present the trophy to Joshi. He will also be presented with a citation and cash award of Rs.10,000.
