'Stagger' journeys to ensure social distancing: Delhi Metro
14-September-2020

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Monday requested the people of Delhi-NCR to stagger their journeys on the metro so that adequate social distancing could be maintained.
In a statement, DMRC said: "Delhi Metro's peak hours are from 8 a.m.-12 noon and from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. To facilitate passengers, a headway of 2 min 45 sec-6 min will be maintained from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please stagger your journeys so that adequate social distancing can be maintained in the Metro."
The Delhi Metro, the lifeline of the city and the National Capital Region, resumed its services on September 7 in a graded manner. From September 12, all the lines were opened and are now running round-the-clock. It is now witnessing a footfall of more than 1.5 lakh.
To avoid huge crowds in the metro as well as at the stations, DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh had earlier appealed to the people to refrain from travelling during peak hours.
Noting the capacity of a coach has been reduced from 250-300 passengers to 50 only, he had said: "Hence, I request you to refrain from travelling during peak hours. If you do this, then Delhi Metro will be able to serve you better."
The Metro system spans around 400 km, with 28 interchange stations, providing comprehensive connectivity to people living in Delhi-NCR. - IANS
