Bomb attack on minister kills two in Pakistan

At least two people were killed and three injured in a bomb attack on a convoy of a federal minister in northwest Pakistan on Thursday evening, local media reported.

The incident took place when a roadside bomb hit the convoy of Pakistan's Federal Minister for Housing Akram Khan Durrani in the northwestern district of Bannu, Xinhua reported.

The minister who was going to his hometown was, however, safe.

The blast also destroyed a police vehicle.

The police said that around seven kilograms of explosives was used in the bomb planted on the roadside and it was detonated with a remote-controlled device.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolence to the families of victims. They directed the authorities to bring the culprits to justice expeditiously. - IANS
