Hurricane Isaias made a landfall in the US state of North Carolina, leading to floods and damages on its way up the coast.
The Category 1 storm landed near Ocean Isle Beach on Monday night, with maximum sustained winds of about 136.8 kmph, Xinhua news agency reported.
"This storm will bring dangerous weather conditions to much of our state overnight — heavy rains, flash floods," North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said.
The storm is expected to rip up the East Coast on Tuesday, bringing with it as much as 6 inches of rain, flooding, power outages and damaging winds, according to a CBS News report.
New York City could see its highest gusts since Superstorm Sandy.
