Lawyers boycott courts, to protest in Delhi
19-November-2015
Lawyers here boycotted courts on Thursday and announced fresh protests in Delhi for the establishment of a bench of the Allahabad High Court in western Uttar Pradesh.
Ghaziabad Bar Association president Ram Avtar Gupta said senior lawyers had been told to contact other bar associations of the 22 districts in the region.
The lawyers earlier held protests in Delhi on August 26, 2013.
"Although the lawyers' demand for a high court bench in western Uttar Pradesh is 34 years old, this time we are determined not to restore work in courts till we get a declaration for a high court bench," he added.
Gupta said western Uttar Pradesh was home to some 80 million people and covered 98,939 sq km area. But there was no high court bench. - IANS
