The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is making efforts to ensure that public toilet and community toilet units have hand wash facilities with liquid soaps and these remain open for general public and the staff on essential duties, the civic body said on Friday.
Currently the NDMC is running 336 such toilets in which 300 are Public Toilet Units and 36 are Community Toilet Units. As many as 84 Smart Toilets are also included in these 336 PTUs/CTUs. These smart toilets have the 'Smart Clinic facility' in which basic health checkup facilities are available at 13 locations.
The Smart Toilets also have the Water ATMs running at 52 locations. Bank ATMs are also installed at 12 Smart Toilets locations of New Delhi area.
"These public conveniences at all locations provide the facility of handwash with liquid soap for the public as well as sanitation workers and staff engaged in essential duties during the lockdown period," an NDMC official said. IANS
