Three trains catch fire at Puri station
12-November-2015
A fire broke out on Thursday in five bogies of three express trains standing at the Puri railway station in Odisha, officials said. There was, however, no loss of life.
The fire engulfed the Puri-New Delhi Nandan Kanan Express and the Puri-Tirupati Express, said East Coast Railway (ECoR) chief public relation officer Jyoti Prakash Mishra.
A small portion of a bogie of the Puri-Howrah Express halted at platform No.6 also caught fire, which was doused immediately by firefighter.
The Nandankanan Express first caught fire that later spread to the Puri-Tirupati Express which was on the adjoining track.
"The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The reason would come out only after a detailed inquiry. It would be inquired by a senior official," said Mishra.
ECoR public relation officer Nirakar Das said the Nandankanan Express caught fire about half an hour after passengers alighted from the train.
Meanwhile, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has detained a person under suspicion. - IANS
