Telangana to recruit 9,000 for police force
07-November-2015
The Telangana government on Saturday decided to recruit 9,000 people in the state police force to fill the vacancies.
One-third of the posts in the civil police have been reserved for women. In the armed category, women will get 10 percent reservation.
The decision was taken on Saturday by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao after a review meeting with top officials.
This will be the first major recruitment in the police department after formation of Telangana state last year.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, 8,300 vacancies will be filled in the police department, 510 in the fire services and 186 in the special protection force.
The government has also done away with the compulsory run for recruitment.
Earlier, 5 km run for men and 2.5 km run for women candidates was compulsory to qualify for recruitment. This has been abolished as it came under sharp public criticism following the death of a few candidates during the run.
The physical efficiency test for the candidates has also been simplified.
