Bengaluru and Mysuru have been identified among the top 25 Covid-19 hotspots in India with the highest confirmed cases, Karnataka Health Minister B. Sriramulu said on Wednesday.

"In India, Bengaluru and Mysore have been identified as among the 25 most sensitive areas of infection," he said, in a tweet, highlighting them to be highly sensitive areas for Covid-19 infection.

The Health Minister shared data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) till Monday, which highlighted these trends.

Bengaluru Urban has emerged as the seventh highest case load hotspot with 33 total confirmed Covid-19 positive cases among the 25 hotspots.

On Tuesday, the city recorded 13 new cases and five more were added by Wednesday morning.

In the fortnight preceding Monday, Benglauru Urban recorded 23 cases.

Similarly, Mysuru stood at the 21st spot in the list with 12 confirmed cases, most of the infections transmitting through the state's 52nd positive case, a pharmaceutical company employee.

The 52nd case was a Mysuru resident, 35, with no travel or positive case contact history.

"He was with quality assurance section of a pharmaceutical company and has been in contact with many healthcare professionals," said an official statement earlier.

Likewise, Chikkaballapur from the state has seen significant case growth in the past fortnight with four cases. It was ranked 22 among a list of 24 places in India with significant growth in cases.

ICMR has designated these places as emerging Covid hotspots. IANS
