Self-discipline alone can defeat Covid-19: Jagan Reddy
26-March-2020
Amid the coronavirus crisis, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has reached out to people of the state in the same fashion as Prime Minister Narendra did on March 24.
In an address, broadcast live on Thursday by most major news channels in the state, Reddy requested the people of Andhra Pradesh to stay indoors and venture out only when unavoidable.
Stating that the situation arising out of Covid-19 outbreak is a 'once-in-a-lifetime' situation, Reddy urged people to exercise utmost self-discipline. "Only discipline on each one of our parts will be able to defeat coronavirus," he said.
He requested Andhraites staying in other states, particularly Telangana, to remain there till the lockdown conditions were relaxed. Even if some one was allowed into the state on humanitarian grounds, he/she would be confined to an isolation centre, he added.
The Chief Minister's appeal follwed the Wednesday's developments when the state police barred around 200 students from Hyderabad from entering AP. Recalling the incident, Reddy said Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao had assured all support to the stranded students.
Reddy also listed out various steps and facilities put in place to tackle the Covid-19 challenge.
Assuring that the state is fully equipped to deal with the crisis, the Chief Minister requested people to not travel even within the state and stay at their homes. IANS
