23-March-2020
The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday decided to seal the Union Territory borders with the neighbouring states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and the UT of Ladakh to scale up the battle against the spread of coronavirus.
The decision to seal the borders was taken in a meeting chaired by J&K Chief Secretary B.V.R. Subhramanyam.
The meeting decided that advance ration for two months, April and May, would be issued to all eligible consumers.
One month's ration for midday Meals would also be given in advance to all parents of eligible children.
The meeting decided to allow movement of transport within districts of the UT as per requirement, and also regulated essential traffic on Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
Taking serious note of the reports of some travellers skipping screening and self-declaration at arrival points or falsifying any information regarding their travel, the chief secretary directed strict checking at entry points at Qazigund and Lower Munda and at airports and bus stands, and ordered action against those putting others at risk.
