Covid-19 scare: Strict restrictions enforced across Srinagar
19-March-2020
Srinagar District Magistrate Shahid Choudhary on Thursday took the decision to impose strict restrictions across the district in the wake of the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in the region.
The decision has been taken as a preventive measure after a Srinagar resident tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
Speaking to IANS, Choudhary said that in the wake of the coronavirus threat, full scale restrictions will be imposed across Srinagar to curtail unnecessary movement of people.
"No public movement or activity will be allowed anywhere in the district. Only government officials with valid IDs will be allowed to move," an official statement said.
Concerned agencies have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of the restrictions across the district.
"Strict action will be taken against violators of the order. Government officials have been asked to ensure that no one is found ferried in their vehicles," the statement said.
The decision to impose restrictions is aimed at containing the spread of the infection, it added. IANS
