Police use CPR to save man committing suicide

A team of policemen saved the life of a 22-year-old man, who was presumed dead by his family after he hanged himself in a bid to commit suicide, by applying cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The Police Control Room (PCR) staff trained in CPR used their skills on the man lying unconscious and saved his life. His name has been withheld to hide his identity.

Soon after getting a call, the PCR team code named Commander-66, reached the victim's house in west Delhi's Jahagir Puri around 1.35 p.m. on Tuesday.

Finding the victim in an unconscious state the PCR members immediately started pressing the man's chest by using CPR skills, Additional Commissioner of Police Ranvir Singh said.

"Within six minutes they managed to get a response and the man's life was saved," he said.

The man was admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital where his condition is stated to be stable, he said. - IANS
