17-March-2020

For a fourth consecutive day on Tuesday, Telangana recorded a Covid-19 positive case, taking the overall number in the state to five.

In the latest case, an Indonesian citizen tested positive for coronavirus and was kept in isolation at the government-run Gandhi Hospital here, health officials said.

He was part of the 10-member group from Indonesia, which had come to Karimnagar town for a religious meet. They, along with three Indians, were brought to Hyderabad and kept at Gandhi Hospital. Other members of the group and three Indians were also quarantined.

Health Minister Etela Rajender told reporters that the Health Department was tracking the people the Indonesian had met.

The minister all the five affected people had come from abroad. However, the Indonesian is the first foreigner to be found positive in the state.

A man with travel history to Scotland tested positive on Monday. Earlier, a man who had recently returned from the Netherlands was found affected. A woman, who had travelled to Italy, was found positive on Saturday.

The first patient, who was tested positive on March 2, had returned from Dubai. He was discharged from the hospital on March 13.

About 200 contacts of the first three patients were screened and none of them were found positive.

Rajender said 22 people who came in contact with the two others were also tested and their results were awaited. IANS
