Lawyers in West Bengal would not take part in any judicial proceedings till March 21 as precautionary measure to prevent spread of coronavirus, the state bar council said here on Monday.
The decision, taken at an emergency meeting of the West Bengal Bar Council, would be reviewed on March 20.
"The advocates enrolled under the West Bengal Bar Council, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, shall abstain from participating in any judicial proceeding till March 21. The decision has been taken after considering the urgency and gravity of the situation," the council said.
The decision would be applicable at the high court, all district and subordinate courts and tax tribunals, said a council spokesman. IANS
