Indian, Pakistani troops exchange sweets on Eid
25-September-2015
Indian and Pakistani soldiers on Friday exchanged sweets and dry fruits on the occasion of Eid at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.
They exchanged sweets at Aman Setu, a bridge on the LoC in Baramulla district connecting the two countries, as well as at a crossing point in Titwal in Kupwara district, Col. S.D. Goswami, spokesperson of the Udhampur-based northern command of the Indian Army, told IANS.
Earlier, the two armies exchanged sweets and dry fruits at Chakan da Bagh and Mendhar crossing points in Poonch district, defence ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Manish Mehta told IANS here.
After the brigadier-level meeting between the two armies at Chanka da Bagh earlier this week, there has been no ceasefire violation on the LoC and the international border in the state.
On Eid last year, residents of border villages could not celebrate the festival in peace because four civilians were killed in Pakistani ceasefire violation on the LoC in Poonch. - IANS
