In another case of honour killing, a 35-year-old widow was allegedly strangled to death and later cremated by her brothers who were against her relationship with a man from another community.
The incident took place earlier this week in Kookda village in Muzaffarnagar.
A case of murder against the woman's brothers, Sumit Kumar and Sonu, was registered at the New Mandi police station and two were arrested on Thursday.
According to the complaint lodged by the woman's lover Zulfikar, she was murdered and her body was cremated without giving any information to the police regarding her death.
Sources said that the woman had entered into a relationship with Zulfikar and apparently wanted to marry him after the death of her husband two years ago in an accident.
She had returned to her parents' house in Kookda village after her husband's death. IANS
