17-January-2013
The brutal gang-rape of a physiotherapy intern here was Thursday transferred to a fast track court for trial, and informed sources said the proceedings may begin Monday.
The Delhi High Court last month had given its approval for setting up five fast track courts to deal with cases of sexual assault on women.
Police filed the chargesheet in the Dec 16 case against five of the six accused. The sixth accused, who claims to be a juvenile, is being handled separately by the Juvenile Justice Board.
The five accused were charged with murder, gang-rape, unnatural offence, destruction of evidence, attempt to murder, kidnapping, causing hurt while committing robbery, dacoity with murder and common intent.
The woman died 13 days later in a Singapore hospital. - IANS
