02-March-2020
The Special Cell of Delhi Police has seized 232 kg contraband drugs with an estimated value of Rs 50 crore. The consignment was being sent to Britain via air courier. Two persons have been arrested in this connection.
Delhi Police DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav told IANS on Monday: "Arrested men have been identified as Puneet Arora of Gurugram and Vinod Kumar of Delhi's Uttam Nagar".
Yadav said: "The police have recovered 76 kg banned drugs, 32.8 kg Tramadol capsules, 123.3 kg Tramadol tablets from them."
The smugglers have revealed that Puneet's father runs an Ayurvedic drugs shop in Britain's Birmingham. They were doing smuggling under this pretext, the DCP said.
He further said that Vinod runs a courier company since long time and has connections with many custom clearance agents. Hence, Puneet was using his contacts to deliver these banned drugs. The police have also recovered two cars and a scooty from them.IANS
