Army chief reviews security arrangements in Valley

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General M.M. Naravane on visited Kashmir over two days to review the prevailing security situation in the Valley.
Accompanied by Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Y.K. Joshi and Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen K.J.S. Dhillon, Naravane visited the formations and units deployed along the Line of Control.
The COAS was briefed by the local commanders on the situation on the Line of Control, ceasefire violations, India's retaliations, counter infiltration operations and operational preparedness being maintained in the region.
During his interaction with the soldiers on snow clad heights, Naravane was appreciative of the sharp vigil and alertness along the Line of Control and high morale of the troops.
He also exhorted the soldiers to remain alert for any eventuality. Naravane further reinforced the need to be prepared to meet emerging security challenges effectively at all times.
The COAS was earlier briefed by the Chinar Corps Commander at the Badami Bagh Cantonment on the overall situation pertaining to the Line of Control and the hinterland.
Naravane also interacted with senior officials of the administration and security forces besides meeting members of the civil society.
This was the first visit of Naravane to Kashmir after taking over as the COAS.IANS
