2G: CBI concludes final arguments in case against Essar
01-September-2015
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday concluded its final arguments in the 2G spectrum allocation case against the promoters of Essar and Loop, saying that the latter was effectively controlled by the Essar group.
Advancing final arguments in the case, Special Public Prosecutor Anand Grover said that Essar Group of companies was fully controlling Loop Telecom which had "fraudulently and dishonestly" misrepresented facts before the Department of Telecommunications to acquire 2G spectrum licences.
Special Judge O.P. Saini fixed September 21 for the hearing of final arguments from the defence.
CBI has alleged that the promoters of the Essar Group were the real investors and beneficiaries of the spectrum licences issued to Loop Telecom, which was used as a front company by Essar in 2008.
Essar and Loop promoters are facing trial for hatching conspiracy to cheat the government. - IANS
