Notorious drug peddler arrested in Srinagar

The Jammu and Kashmir Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Police officers, in a checkpoint at Baba Dawood Khakhi Bridge, intercepted Nazir Ahmad Mir, a resident of Koolipora, Khanyar.
During checking, the police recovered 2.5 kilos of 'charas' (a form of cannabis) from his possession.
"He has been arrested and shifted to police station Khanyar where he remains in custody," a police officer said on Saturday.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered by the police and further investigation has been taken up.
"Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law," police said. - IANS
