Gurugram Police on search for cricket bookie Vohra
19-February-2020
The Gurugram Police are on high alert after receiving intelligence inputs that cricket bookie Shyam Vohra is hiding in the national capital region (NCR).
Vohra is said to have big hold over the betting market, and according to sources, he also master-minded a betting racket during the February 8 Delhi Assembly elections.
He has been on the run since suicide by his partner Devendra Pal Singh on May 29, 2019. Singh's wife Bimlesh claimed her husband committed suicide as he was being "pressurised by Vohra and his girlfriend Priyanka Goswami".
An FIR was also registered in Agra's Tajgunj police station in August 2019.
"We have been alerted by intelligence agency and surveillance has been mounted. The SHOs of all police stations have been asked to conduct random checking in guest houses, hotels, PG accommodations and recently rented-out flats," said ACP Preet Pal Singh Sangwan. - IANS
